Happy Fourth of July!!

OK.  We were warned that the JH Fourth of July parade would not be what we were used to, but we are from New Orleans!  Unless we were spending 14 months in Rio I would imagine the local parades would not really measure up to our norm.  We were told it might be fun for the kids but could also be missed.  Well...not only did we not miss the parade, we were IN the parade!!  It was a blast.  Tullis and Jane had an awesome time and it was a wonderful crowd.  We were invited to participate with the Stingrays, which is the kid's swim team.  They all had water guns and the bed of the truck was loaded with buckets of water for refills.  People were very cool about getting wet as it was an unseasonably warm day for Jackson Hole...high was like 88!  Here are some pics from the parade!

This was the Stingray "Float"

And we're off!

See Tullis on the right just shooting away!

Still shooting...

Thickest crowds were on the "Square"

More ammo was always available.

Notice the "antler arch" far left

After the parade we grabbed some lunch and a little downtime before heading to Music in the Hole.  Follow the link (hope it worked!) to learn about the Grand Teton Music Festival.  Music in the Hole is hosted in an outdoor amphitheater and attended by close to 10,000 people.  There is a land rush at 9 (think neutral ground stake out before Bacchus or Endymion) and wonderful live music by various groups throughout the day culminating with a wonderful performance by the GTMF Orchestra.  Unlike the aforementioned parades there is plenty of room for latecomers...think a slow day at jazz Fest 20 years ago!  Christian got some shots of Tullis bobbing for apples and there is a long range photo of the filed and amphitheater and the amazing backdrop.

What a view!

Sorry Grace...5 and 7 and already a henna tattoo!

And our apple bobber!!

He did it twice and ate both apples!  Loved it!  Wish I could post pictures of fireworks, but they were cancelled due to the dry conditions.  We did not really miss them.

Hope you all had a great Fourth of July!!
