Tonight...or tomorrow!

OK.  So I didn't catch up last night, but I'm back now.  Tullis' team got killed last night and their opponents best player wasn't even playing!  I asked the coach about it and he says the guy who sets the teams doesn't know all the players so some teams get stacked.  Wish it had been us!!  The kids had fun though and come to find out the coach and his family (Hunter incoming 3rd grade) and Izzy (incoming 5th grade) are our neighbors.  And to Jane's delight they have a trampoline!

The irony of his team's name is not lost on me!!

About the Art Fair...I meant to say it attracts artists from all over the COUNTRY....NOT COUNTY!

Backtracking....Sunday Christian and the kids went to church and then in the afternoon we went to the Fireman's Chicken Fry.  It is their major fundraiser and would have been a blast if it hadn't rained as soon as we sat down with our chicken.  Luckily we heeded the shy's warning and drove even though it only would have been a short ride on the bike path.  The weather turned nasty.

All the chicken and potatoes were done in huge cast iron pots/fryers over an open flame.  It was delicious!

And about that nasty weather.  Can anyone say HAIL?  It's JULY!!

Those little white dots that look like fuzz are hail!

Big enough to make a splash!

Monday morning the mountains were gone.  The clouds were so heavy they were sitting on the valley floor (at least that's how I think of it!).  Jane put on a NOLA winter dress and leggings.

Same view from my window sans mountains!

Note the date...7/23/12.  Note the inside temp...65 (and we don't have air conditioning!).  Note the outside temp...59
Leigh...Don't report me!!

Christian thought many of you would enjoy the above shot!

Our friend Chopper called to say that the top of The Pass was probably clear so Christian and the kids drove up and sure 'nuf!!

Cloud covered valley floor!  The valley is at about 6200 ft and the top of The Pass is about 8400.

Clear at the top of The Pass.

Clouds below.

After the trip up the pass Christian and the kids ran some errands and then hit the soccer field for practice.  Jane packed her "Penguin Bag" (thanks Aunt Gigi!!) so she could keep busy while the boys practiced.  Tullis is loving soccer.  Already filled you in on his game Monday afternoon.

We have met some nice people at soccer.  A small world example would be Carrie Becker who is a Trustee at Hockaday in Dallas where our friend Kim Wargo is Head and our own Carolyn Chandler (Head at MPCDS) is Kim's mentor in the ISAS system (not sure I said that right!).

Today the kids had their second to last swim practice.  They will go tomorrow for the last time!  We picked Margaret Bossier up at the airport and tomorrow we get Emma.  They will be with us until Friday and then they head back to NOLA.  Friday night we will have dinner with Peter and AJ who are in town for a wedding.  Gotta love the destination wedding!

OK.  I'm caught up.  Feels good!  Hope everyone is great.  I'll be in NOLA 8/1-8/8.  Grabbing Grace on the 4th and then headed back here with her.  MISS HER SOOOO MUCH!

Once again....Catching up!

Sorry to get behind on this.  Quick recap as I know most of you really just like the pictures!  Tullis' new soccer gig is fun.  He really enjoyed it and the view from the field is pretty awesome.

Thursday was fairly uneventful with work, regular swim practice and errands.  One thing to note is that the landlord cut the grass on Wednesday night and our geese have yet to return.  I kinda miss them!

Friday the kids did Fun Day at swimming.  Christian got a few photos...

This week will be there last week of swimming until regular season starts in the fall.  Sad cause they were just getting used to the cold water!  Something to note...neither of them have a tan and their hair did not turn blonde this summer.  Guess that's what you get swimming inside!!

Friday night we went to dinner with our friends the Grassells.  I hope I am spelling that right!  Their daughter Megan babysat (the kids love her)...

Megan and Jane in the backyard.

Saturday morning we went to the Art Fair in town.  It attracts artists from all over the county.  I was very tempted by quite a lot of things, but as I do not have my own house I resisted!  Did buy some wonderful soaps made by a lady in Idaho.  Sat. afternoon we did the Ski Lake hike, but must have done something wrong because we never saw the lake!  Some great shots otherwise!

Have to head to soccer.  Will update the rest later tonight!
