Alpine for Dinner
OK. My bad, but no pictures from a wonderful dinner we had with Bari and Dave Bucholz at their home in Alpine, WY. Bari teaches at Journey School here in the valley and Dave has a company called North Fork Builders. They are mainly residential builders also here in town. Alpine is about 45-50 minutes away so kind of like working in NOLA and living on the Northshore (except their fog is landslides!). We had a wonderful evening of food and friends. Dave even treated us to some home caught and cooked elk that was delicious. He says the trick is to use only salt and pepper and DO NOT OVERCOOK! Bari grilled some amazing chicken kabobs that she marinated in Soy Vay: Island Teriyaki. Go find some...it was amazing! I'll get some pictures of the Bucholz family the next time we are together. Sorry about the photographic lapse. I am blaming June.
Family of Moose
OK. Not sure how well you can see this, but it is a family of moose in Natalie's yard! This is in the valley in Wilson.
Philips Canyon Hike 6/26/12
On Tuesday Cici left us and headed back to NOLA. Sad day in Wilson!! The kids had swim practice in the morning and went on a hike in the afternoon. Scroll down to see what they found!! Welcome to the wilderness! Jane's new friend Natalie came to play and we ended up at the school (Wilson Elementary) to help in the garden and for June to see some old friends. Some of the mom's meet every Tuesday evening from 5:30-6:30 to keep up the garden over the summer. I'll get some pictures up of school and the town soon.
I know...Gross. Christian, Owen and Jane found this Elk leg on the hike and brought it back to the house! Don't worry. It's gone now...since it started to smell! |

Swim Practice
Tullis and Jane have joined the Stingray swim team at the Jackson Hole Recreation Center. It is pretty serious! Here is a shot of them getting into the pool and a little video of one of the drills. They are required to wear flippers and the pool is cold so there is no hanging out at the end. Pretty solid swimming for 1 hour. Their coach is nice and very encouraging as she tires our little people out!
On the Square
Monday afternoon Cici, Christian, the kids and I went to town. We walked around The Square so Cici could buy a few souvenirs to "prove she had been here". Christian got a few shots of the kids being tourists!
Hike up Glory Bowl
Christian, Bronson, Owen, Basil and Bridger hiked up Glory Bowl on Monday morning. They headed out about 6:30am and were some tired when they got home. The whole hike took about 3 hours. The grade was pretty steep, but Christian said the path was well worn and the rocks gave you foothold as you hiked up. As you will see the view was pretty impressive from the top! Christian got some great shots of Bronson, Owen and the dogs. He says the next time they do this hike they need to put harnesses on the dogs so they can pull the people up without choking!
